JOAO PEDRO INJURED!? | BEST REPLACEMENTS! | FPL Salah's Gameweek 5 Team Reveal! | FPL 2026/27
Briefed in the Fantasy Premier League edition of Saturday, 19 September 2026
What was discussed
João Pedro injury status and impact0:00
- Jackassertion
João Pedro has taken himself out of the Brazil squad due to injury, which is a major issue given his 75% ownership.
- FPL Salahassertion
I'd be extremely surprised if he plays on Friday, and I think there's two paths here depending on what Xabi Alonso says.
- FPL Salahopinion
I generally think a serious injury, just kind of based on those facts, because if he played after claiming injury he would never get called up to the Brazil team again.
FPL strategy for João Pedro owners0:55
- FPL Salahassertion
If he's out for a short period, you just keep him and play a bench option, but if he's out for a good few months, then we sell him. The options I've been looking at are Tierno Barry, Gonzalo Garcia, possibly you could even put in Isaac.
- FPL Salahopinion
If you've got one free transfer, I'd probably just save, and if you can play a bench option, then do that.
Pascal Groß as a bench replacement1:22
- FPL Salahopinion
Gross is going to be on penalties, he's on set pieces, very likely to play 90 minutes, and he's just a fine option to play.
- Jackassertion
Gross had another great performance last night, playing 90 minutes and helping Brighton dominate United after going two nil down.
Gibbs White versus Saka transfer debate13:22
- FPL Salahopinion
It's a good transfer you can make, it's a luxury move, but it's by no means a no brainer because Saka is still a fantastic option. Over the longer term, I'd say Saka is the better asset, but if you're looking over the next four game weeks it's Gibbs White for sure. If you've got three free transfers and you can make that move in one transfer, then I would 100% do it, but with two I'd be 50/50.
Chelsea attack without João Pedro17:23
- FPL Salahopinion
It is a worry that João Pedro is going to be out because I do think that will affect the attack in a negative way. I feel so much more confident having Welbeck as an understudy than I have had in previous years, as I don't think the drop off will be seismic.
Arsenal defensive and attacking options19:34
- FPL Salahassertion
Arsenal defence is elite, but Raya is generally not a high scoring asset with a ceiling of six.
- FPL Salahopinion
I'd probably slightly lean towards going for one attacker, whether that be Saka or Odegaard, as you could go wrong either way.
Newcastle attackers and Wissa's role20:51
- FPL Salahopinion
He's likely going to be on penalties, he's playing a lot of minutes, and he's going to be in the attack, so I'm totally happy with him.
FPL Salah's FOMO players: Gibbs White and Gvardiol22:36
- FPL Salahassertion
Gvardiol is the most safe out of City's attacking assets, he's getting an attacking return in every game so far, and City's defense is looking quite good. Gibbs White is nailed to play 90 minutes, Forest don't have European commitments, and he's on penalties and set pieces.
Bogle's consistency and early substitutions24:16
- FPL Salahopinion
He's been a tad lucky not to be on that many points, as he came off before the clean sheet in his last two games. I don't think long term I would be looking at him because he has the chance of coming off before the 60 minute mark.
